It’s been a very long winter, and no more so than for the youngest members of our club who have had numerous games and training sessions called off since their season commenced in early March.

But on Saturday morning the sun shone magnificently on St. Finian’s Park as our under 8’s and under 10 boys welcomed Ballinabrackey and Milltownpass for their first official Go-Games fixture of 2018.

The wait was certainly worth it as the young Clonard stars showed off their skills and abundant energy in the warm sunshine, buoyed on by their proud peers and supporters on the sidelines. Their enthusiasm and enjoyment was obvious to all in attendance as the long winter was clearly a distant memory.

Later in the afternoon Clonard Under 10 girls welcomed Ballivor in the Ladies Little League and the fun wasn’t over yet for the weekend as on Sunday morning the Under 8 girls made the short journey to Longwood to also play in their first fixture of the year.

It was a wonderful weekend of football for the children as they eagerly look forward to a long summer of GAA. Well done to all involved.

Also please remember that the Under 6 academy starts back this Saturday morning at 10 am in St. Finian’s Park. Spread the word!
